Last week was an awesome experience! I usually attend on Thursday afternoon and this particular Thursday Elijah came up and asked me to read him a comic book. Having three brothers growing up, I had developed a love for comic books so I was more that willing. It wasn't long before several of the little boys in Cambria's class were soon gathered around, entranced with the story. I must admit it was more fun than I've had in a long time and when I had to leave none of them wanted me to go. Who knew my Incredible Hulk impersonation would come in handy one day? AAAGH. DONT MAKE HULK ANGRY.

Can I just say how awesomely amazing the Boys and Girls Club is?
ReplyDeleteThe past few weeks have been fantastic! Everything from making ice cream to playing "protect the cone" to reading Dr. Seuss brings me back to when I was small. Each week is a new experience!
I want to suggest praying before you go to the club. I've been going for about a year now but haven't prayed before until a few weeks ago and it has made a TREMENDOUS difference. I have a greater love for the kids and it is so much easier to be sincerely interested in what they have to say (I think it's because Heavenly Father is genuinely interested in all of us. As we try to become like him, he grants us a little bit if his ability to be interested in his other children.). Today was especially good because one of the girls was so sweet! She helped her little brother read, worked on her homework, and helped another boy with addition and coloring. She was incredibly patient and all I could think is, "Wow, this is the upcoming generation. They are incredible!" Also, Cambrie the staff member made a special effort to remember my name which made me feel important! I had a hard time getting myself to the club at first (feeling a little under the weather) but I am so glad I went. It was a great experience. :)
